Having writer’s block means you’re just unable to write, for whatever reason, and it can be a source of frustration for any business owner trying their hand at blog writing.
If you have decided to take on blog writing for your business, you might struggle sometimes. It’s a lot of pressure to write well, and make it clear that you’re an expert without becoming long winded.
Concern about wanting to do well might manifest itself in writer’s block. Or maybe it is a result of any number of things. But when you need to write a blog to meet your deadlines, here are a few things that might help you getting over writer’s block.
Create your own writing routine
Create a writing environment and routine that inspires productivity and creativity. Keep to a writing schedule – so if you plan to work on your posts one day each week, carve out the time in your calendar to dedicate to it.
If you have research or any prep work to do before you can begin writing, build that into your schedule too. Ensure you’ve set yourself up for success ahead of time and establish a routine.
Just start writing
It might be hard advice to follow, but sometimes you just need to sit down and write. If your writer’s block is making you delay writing, just start writing. If the words aren’t flowing on the topic you’re meant to be writing about, let yourself free write a little to get started and then refocus on the task at hand once you’re back in the zone.
Writing chronologically might not be the way to go
There’s no need to struggle because you think you need to write your blog posts in a logical order – beginning, middle, end.
Maybe starting with the introduction is overwhelming, so start with the body of your post – the meat of what you’re writing about, and then come up with opening and closing paragraphs. Or maybe it’s easier to start with the beginning and the end and then fill in the middle later. You’re not beholden to chronological order, so do whatever works for you.
Find ways to keep your focus
If you find yourself procrastinating or getting easily diverted from working, figure out a way to get rid of your distractions and focus on writing.
Maybe that means installing software or browser extensions designed to help you block websites that waste your time. Or maybe it’s using a productivity timer app that directs you to write for a set period of time with short breaks before starting another session until you’ve finished writing. Think outside the box to help you beat writer’s block.

If after all that you’re still having trouble putting pen to paper, time after time, consider giving the task to a professional.
