Hello and welcome to the sixth in our series of blogs to get to know our fantastic team!
We are giving you the opportunity to get to know a little more about who we are, how we help you (our clients) and what we get up to in our spare time.
NAME: Kate Philbin
ROLE: Copywriter
Tell us a bit about the work you do with Marketing Square?
I am a copywriter specialising in medical and wellbeing clients. I’ve been writing commercially for the whole of my long career but I first became interested in writing about health and wellbeing more than 20 years ago when I began creating content for the NHS. I continue to write for the NHS, alongside writing for our private medical clients and working as a Wellbeing Editor for a magazine.
What key skills do you bring to Marketing Square?
- My particular skill is conveying information in a way that is clear, concise and compelling.
- I am adept at integrating complex and sometimes technical information and translating it into simple, accessible, patient-facing language that gets across the salient point in a way that people can understand and relate to.
- I love what I do because it is all about people. I hope this comes across in the quality of my content!
Tell us a bit about you…
I tend to be a bit of a workaholic and I rarely go a day without writing. Alongside my work as a copywriter, I am studying for an MA in Writing for Children and Young People at the renowned Bath Spa University. So far, I am around 45,000 words into my first novel, which is a fairytale-inspired fantasy for Young Adults. In 2017 I gave a TED talk called ‘What Toddlers Teach Us About Style’. My weirdest day ever was spent face to face with dissected human torsos in the dissection room of Kings College London.
Quote to live by…
“Imagination is more important than knowledge, for knowledge is limited whereas imagination encircles the world.” Albert Einstein.
What is your current favourite brand?
I have a deeply intuitive sense about colour and am in awe of amazing colourists. My absolute favourites are Sophie Digard, who is a Parisian scarf designer and Kaffe Fassett, the legendary designer of knitwear, textiles, mosaics and other items of gorgeousness.
